Kevin Durant and Nike Basketball Celebrate 10th Anniversary With KD 10

After signing with Nike Basketball fresh out of the University of Texas, Kevin Durant this weekend saw the official unveiling of his tenth signature shoe — the Nike KD 10.

Designed by Swoosh veteran Leo Chang, the transition from the KD 9 to the KD 10 is subtle yet elegant. Again produced in Flyknit after Durant confessed his love for the fabric back in 2012 when he received a pair of Flyknit Racers during the London Olympics, the technological capacity of the fabric is strengthened through high-tenacity yarn fastened at stress points and a high stretch yarn at the collar and across the forefoot. This blend yields a perfect balance of basketball-specific support and a sock-like hug. Thus, flexibility, breathability and support are at their height in Durant’s line with the KD 10.

“The KD 6 was a big turning point,” Durant confessed. “I trusted Leo and Nike to make a low shoe that I can wear on court, and I loved it. Now with the KD 10, we combine a low-cut with my favorite upper material.” Much like the KD 9, full-length Nike Zoom Air stands as the shoe’s cushioning and responsiveness system, enhanced for durability and tuned for maximum impact support.

Adorned in a faint blue hue with a Swoosh blending team colors from Durant’s teams since college, this mélange, bespoke Swoosh celebrates a ten-year anniversary for Durant and Nike Basketball. Fittingly, the Nike KD 10 “Anniversary” will be the first colorway to debut at retailers on May 26. The Nike KD 10 “Still KD” will follow on June 1.
